Designed in 1968 by Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm, the FK-82 is Danish mid-century minimalism distilled to its structural essentials — a cantilevered chrome-steel frame that reads almost architectural, paired with a low, sled-like seat that puts these chairs closer to the ground than a typical lounge chair. That low stance is what gives them their particular presence: less "sit up and receive guests," more "sink in and stay a while."
This 2010 pair is upholstered in supple black aniline leather — soft, matte, and prone to developing character with use rather than staying showroom-stiff. The tan leather-wrapped armrests are the FK-82's signature move: a warm, saddle-like detail against all that black and chrome, and the only ornament the design allows itself.
